Fall Beauty Trends

A slight chill in air when you wake up, colorful trees lining the landscape, and a warm fire in the evening…it’s no wonder that fall is such a highly anticipated season, if only for the fact that it doesn’t last very long. As you enjoy the season, it’s time to put away the bright and minimal make up palette of summer and embrace the deeper and more saturated hues of fall. If you want to make the most of your autumn experience, don’t skip the following tips for a beautiful and rich autumn look.

Eyes

While summertime is all about that natural “no make-up” effortless look, fall is the time to add a bit more color and drama back. Eyes are the star of the show when it comes to autumn beauty looks and this is easily achieved by changing up your eye shadow and liner. For the eyes, get that perfect autumn glow with the application of some moodier toned eye shadows in shades of bronze, brown, plum, cranberry, and deep golds. As the leaves begin to change, consider this your signal that it’s time to break out the eyeliner again. While a fall smoky eye can be easily accomplished with a brown shadow and charcoal eye liner, another fun look to try is the combination of a golden shadow matched with a dark brown liner, which can be equally as dramatic and gorgeous.

Hair

For those who like to color their hair seasonally, most enjoy a routine of lighter in the summer and darker in the fall. Instead making such a harsh transition, consider the popular bayalage trend of darker roots blending into lighter shades of chestnut instead of beach blonde. Just because you are using a darker hair color doesn’t mean it needs to look one dimensional. Hair extensions are an easy way to add a complimentary color to your hair, with the extra bonus of added length and volume. In fact, real hair extensions can be customized to match or compliment any hair color. Taking a cue from the leaves outside, fall is such a great time to experiment with color and change. Wearing your hair down is back on the table again now that you don’t have to worry about getting your hair off your neck because of the heat. Kick things up a notch by adding a braided crown, a half up top knot, or adding a felted hat over loose waves.

Lips

Swap out those bright pinks and oranges…and pile on all the moody colors! The autumn season is one of the only times of the year where it’s generally acceptable to experiment with darker shades—and even encouraged. Dark reds, deep plums and berries, and even show-stopping browns are all tones to play with when it comes to lip color. A good rule of thumb when using a darker color is to make sure to use a lip liner to keep the color from bleeding out, which is much more noticeable with such bold hues. Along the same palette, each of these colors would be perfectly complimented by matching nail polish.
